41,000+ 4WD tracks and 28,000+ walking trails

Named tracks and trails across Australia and New Zealand. A region’s tracks come with its offline map, so once it is on your phone they are there with no signal. One region is free, and Dirt Map Pro adds the rest.

Difficulty, graded for you

Difficulty is part of Dirt Map Pro. Tracks are graded from Easy to Extreme, and walking trails from Grade 1 to Grade 5, with a separate grade for the wet. Rate the tracks you drive or walk and Personal Trail Intelligence™ predicts difficulty on your own scale, learned from your ratings rather than averaged from other people’s. Rating tracks is free.

Your favourites, and where you have been

Star the tracks you want to come back to. Record a trip and Dirt Map lists the named tracks you travelled, so you can see where you have been.

Seasonal closures

Tracks in areas with seasonal closures carry a note. It is a reminder to check, not a live status, so confirm with the land manager before you go.

Track information can be out of date: tracks close, wash out and change, and a difficulty grade is a guide, not a promise. Check conditions and closures with the land manager before you go, drive within your own and your vehicle’s limits, and on remote trips carry recovery gear, a paper map and a personal locator beacon (PLB).
FAQ

Common questions.

How many tracks are in Dirt Map?
41,000+ named 4WD tracks and 28,000+ walking trails across Australia and New Zealand.
Is the track database free?
Searching and highlighting tracks, the track card and favourites are free in the regions on your phone, and one region is free. The track’s full detail, including its distance, elevation and difficulty, is part of Dirt Map Pro.
Does track search work with no signal?
Yes, in the regions on your phone. Searching for addresses and places needs signal.
How is difficulty graded?
Tracks are graded Easy to Extreme, and walking trails Grade 1 to 5, with a separate grade for the wet. Rate a few tracks and Personal Trail Intelligence predicts difficulty on your own scale. Difficulty is part of Dirt Map Pro.
Does it use other people’s ratings?
No. The prediction learns from your ratings, not an average of other people’s, so Hard means hard by your standards.
Are walking trails included?
Yes. 28,000+ walking trails show as dashed lines as you zoom in, and you can search and highlight them like 4WD tracks.
Does Dirt Map show whether a track is open?
No. Tracks in areas with seasonal closures carry a note, but it is not a live status. Check with the land manager before you go.
