Dirt Map 6.5
Follow your saved routes with voice guidance, and see every waypoint along the way.
New
- Navigation Companion — follow any saved route with voice guidance, waypoint alerts and off-route warnings, even with your phone in your pocket. It guides you to the start and shows your arrival time.
- Saved routes now list every waypoint. Tap one to find it, double-tap to rename it, give it a type with its own map icon, and add a note and photos.
- A 3D view that turns to face the way you are heading. Tap the locate button to switch between north up, heading up and 3D.
- Record a trip or take a photo straight from the map. A photo taken when nothing is recording becomes a pin.

- Routes reach every waypoint, even off the road, with the climb and descent for every leg.
- Saved routes show which way they run.
- Elevation profiles follow the terrain.

- No more white flash when opening Import.
- Deleting a trip photo now removes its pin.
- Changing a marker's coordinates now saves, and the pin moves straight away.

Your photos on the map, and the shape of the land at a glance.
New
- Photos — add them to trips, markers, routes and track reports. Take one while recording and it pins on the map right where you took it.
- Terrain shading — see ridges, gullies and saddles at a glance. Needs a connection.
- Detailed 20 m contours you can download and use with no signal.
- Rate a track as you go — each report pins to where you are, and you can add several along the way.
- New to Dirt Map? A quick setup tailored to how you head out, plus three months of Pro free when you sign up.

- Satellite view is now free to look at.
- Terrain downloads look after themselves on Wi-Fi, and ask first on mobile data.
- One record button — pause, finish or cancel from one place.
- Tap the location bar to switch between address, lat/long and UTM, and press and hold to copy.
- Beacon shows at a glance that it is still sharing, and you can change how often it updates without restarting.
- Short walking tracks now count toward your tracks travelled.

- Add marker now drops exactly at the crosshair.
- Tapping A or B on a track's elevation chart flips its direction as expected.
- The paywall could show the free trial as one month instead of three.

See the ground from above, and share your trip live.
New
- Satellite view — check tree cover and clearings from above before you commit. Victoria and New Zealand for now, more areas coming.
- Beacon — share a live link so family and mates can follow your trip on the map. No app or sign-in needed to watch.
- Send feedback from the app — type a note or record a voice memo, right from the About screen.

- A cleaner drive — the navigation bar shows distance or arrival time at a tap, with the road you're on right above it.
- Navigation keeps guiding you with the screen off and your phone in your pocket.
- Search a track and navigate straight to its trailhead.
- Plans long routes more reliably — no more giving up early on the big trips.
Fixed
- Reversing a saved route now flips A and B everywhere — on the map, the elevation profile and the route itself.
- 5.5.1: starting a Beacon could close the app. Fixed.

Dirt Map 5.4
Reshape routes with a drag, navigate from anywhere, and a clearer drive.
New
- Reshape a saved route — drag any waypoint and the route reroutes instantly, even offline.
- Waypoints are numbered A to B on the map and on the elevation profile.
- Navigate from anywhere — tap Navigation and go to the spot at the map centre, or search a place.
- Tracks now have a Navigate button that routes you to the trailhead.
- CarPlay: your speed in a dial, altitude in a pill, and the follow camera is your choice — 3D driving or 2D overhead.
- A running recording shows a clear red REC indicator — and Dirt Map warns you if a recording never actually started.
- Redeem a beta or invite code in the app.
Improved
- A cleaner map — a route's waypoint pins show only while that route is open.
- The map turns with you — recentre toggles north-up and heading-up, and heading-up follows your compass smoothly.
- Your position arrow stays put: no wobble, no drifting off-centre, never hidden behind a pin.
- While navigating, the map clears to your route so old trip lines don't clutter the view.
- Follow-me keeps up at walking pace.
- Long recordings in the background are more resilient.
- After a trip, you're only asked to rate tracks that match what you were doing.

- Crash when dragging a waypoint to reshape a plotted route.
