Quick fixes worth trying first

These account for most of what people write in about:

  • Map is blank offline? Check the region actually finished downloading in Download Maps — a paused download looks identical to a finished one at a glance.
  • Paid but Pro is not showing? Open Account and tap Restore Purchases.
  • Trips missing on a new phone? Trips sync to your account. If you never added an email or Sign in with Apple, the account was device-only — link one before you switch phones.
FAQ

Common questions.

Does it really work with no phone signal?
Yes, and that is the point of it. Once a region is downloaded, the basemap, contours, track database, camp sites, search and turn-by-turn routing all run on the phone. Put it in aeroplane mode and nothing changes. The one exception is Pro’s finer 20 m contours, which stream and need reception to load.
Which regions can I download?
Nine: Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania, and both New Zealand islands. Your first region is already inside the app, so there is a map there before you download anything.
Is there an Android or Android Auto version?
Android arrives in September 2026, with Android Auto on the dash alongside it — the same offline region packs, the same track database and the same Personal Trail Intelligence. Today Dirt Map runs on iPhone and iPad, on iOS 15 or newer, plus CarPlay. There is no web app.
Three months free — what is the catch?
None. New subscribers get three months of Pro before the first charge — long enough for a summer of trips, not a fortnight of poking around. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing. If subscriptions are not your thing, Dirt Map Pro LIFETIME is AU$99.99 once and never renews.
How much of it is free?
Your first region, the whole track and trail database, camp sites, offline navigation, route planning, recording and file imports. No account, no trial timer. Rating tracks is free too — Pro adds every other region, the finer contours, the calibrated difficulty prediction, elevation profiles, Insights and CarPlay.
How much space does a region take?
Between about 110 MB for Tasmania and about 615 MB for Queensland, covering the map, contours, the routing graph and the track pack. The Download page lists the exact size of every region.
Where does the map data come from?
The base map and track network come from OpenStreetMap, terrain from the Copernicus DEM, and campground data from Australian government open-data sources. Full credits are on our attribution page.
Can I bring my own maps and tracks?
Yes. Dirt Map imports GPX, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON and OziExplorer files, and georeferenced raster maps as offline overlays. Timestamped files come in as trips; plain lines come in as routes.
How do I delete my account and my data?
In the app, open the sidebar, tap Account, then Delete Account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes your account and everything synced to it — trips, routes, waypoints and favourites — and it cannot be undone. If you have never signed in, the same option appears as "Delete All My Data". Any App Store purchase is unaffected, and Restore Purchases will bring Pro back. If you cannot get into the app, email us and we will do it for you.

Deleting your account and your data

You can delete your Dirt Map account, and everything attached to it, from inside the app. You do not need to email us and you do not need to ask permission.

  1. Open Dirt Map and open the sidebar menu.
  2. Tap Account.
  3. Tap Delete Account. If you have never signed in, this appears as Delete All My Data.
  4. Type DELETE to confirm.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your trips, routes, markers, folders, ratings, track history and analytics events. It cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles that billing. Cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions before you delete, or you will keep being charged. A Lifetime purchase is unaffected by deletion, and Restore Purchases will bring Pro back.

If you cannot reach the in-app option, email kelvin@dirtmap.com from the address on the account, tell us your display name, and we will action it and confirm when it is done. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
